“It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going!” by Chelsea Clinton is this month’s GEM Book Club pick. It is a great, informative book about how to get involved, how to be engaged, and how to become a good global citizen in a rapidly changing and evolving world. It is very inspiring and a good resource for anyone interested in getting more involved in their community, and beyond.
This book is broken down into several parts and includes many suggestions for readers to take action. Whether it is through fundraising, community organizing, activism of whatever kind, volunteering, or community advocacy, there are numerous options to choose from and discuss. The book also includes activities such as questions for discussion, quizzes you can take, and other activities that you can do to learn and engage with the materials and your community and friends. In the end, it is a “call to action” for young people to get out there and make a difference in the world, whether that be at a local or global level.
GEMs Book Club recommends this book because it is not only greatly informative but ultimately it is itself very empowering. It gives you great ideas on this you can do, but also inspires you to think about all of the many other ways in which you can help others around you and around the world. We highly recommend this book for GEMs of all ages to read and get inspired!
